Fatty acid isoprenoid alcohol ester synthesis in fruits of the African Oil Palm (Elaeis guineensis)

چکیده

The African Oil Palm (Elaeis guineensis; family Arecaceae) represents the most important oil crop for food and feed production biotechnological applications. Two types of can be extracted from palm fruits, mesocarp which is rich in palmitic acid carotenoids (provitamin A) tocochromanols (vitamin E), kernel with high amounts lauric myristic acid. We identified fatty phytyl esters (FAPEs) tissues mature mostly esterified oleic very long chain acids. In addition, geranylgeranyl (FAGGEs) accumulated kernels to even larger amounts. contrast, FAPEs FAGGEs composition leaves were similar. Analysis wild accessions Cameroon revealed a considerable variation tissues. Exogenous supplementation phytol or geranylgeraniol slices resulted incorporation these alcohols into FAGGEs, respectively, indicating that they are synthesized via enzymatic reactions. Three candidate genes esterase/lipase/thioesterase (ELT) genome. differentially expressed tissue EgELT1 showing highest expression. Geranylgeraniol FAGGE might recycled used as substrate synthesis tocotrienols during fruit development. Thus, provide an additional metabolic source acids geranylgeraniol, respectively.

Lipase activity, mesocarp oil content, and iodine value in oil palm fruits of Elaeis guineensis, Elaeis oleifera, and the interspecific hybrid O×G (E. oleifera × E. guineensis).

BACKGROUND One factor affecting crude palm oil quality is the formation of free fatty acids (FFA), often attributed to the hydrolytic action of mesocarp lipase. The aim of this work was to evaluate the enzyme behavior and to look toward new genotypes with low FFA production, high yield, and better oil quality. RESULTS Lipase activity was strongly activated at low temperatures (5 °C). At this ...

Circadian control of isoprene emissions from oil palm (Elaeis guineensis).

The emission of isoprene from the biosphere to the atmosphere has a profound effect on the Earth's atmospheric system. Until now, it has been assumed that the primary short-term controls on isoprene emission are photosynthetically active radiation and temperature. Here we show that isoprene emissions from a tropical tree (oil palm, Elaeis guineensis) are under strong circadian control, and that...

Microbial degradation of palm (Elaeis guineensis) biodiesel.

The kinetics of biodegradation of palm-derived fatty methyl and ethyl esters (Elaeis guineensis biodiesel) by a wild-type aerobic bacterial population was measured at 20 degrees C, as the rate of oxygen uptake by a manometric technique. The methyl and ethyl biodiesels were obtained by potassium-hydroxide catalysed trans-esterification of palm oil, respectively. The bacterial flora included the ...

Correction: Genetic Architecture of Palm Oil Fatty Acid Composition in Cultivated Oil Palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) Compared to Its Wild Relative E. oleifera (H.B.K) Cortés

We searched for quantitative trait loci (QTL) associated with the palm oil fatty acid composition of mature fruits of the oil palm E. guineensis Jacq. in comparison with its wild relative E. oleifera (H.B.K) Cortés. The oil palm cross LM2T x DA10D between two heterozygous parents was considered in our experiment as an intraspecific representative of E. guineensis. Its QTLs were compared to QTLs...
